Oz Comic-Con Volunteer FAQs

Q: What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer at Oz Comic-Con?
A: Here are some to name a few...

  • Free event entry which is yours to enjoy during your break times
  • Lunch provided all days of the event that you work, including Friday
  • Complimentary autograph from a selected guest in attendance
  • Becoming a part of the Oz Comic-Con community

Q: What sort of duties will I be assigned?
A: That depends on your interests and prior experience. We will do our best to assign you to an area that interests you, however we do not guarantee it. Completing the form in detail, listing your interests and any prior experience it helps us to assign you to the position that is best suited to you.

Q: What is the age limit for volunteers?
A: Due to legal requirements, applicants must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer at an Oz Comic-Con event.

Q: I sent in my details to be a volunteer, but wasn’t chosen, why not?
A: We do thank everybody who puts their hand up to help us out on their own time. We do get a lot of interest from people wanting to volunteer, but unfortunately we do not have a position that needs filling for every application we receive. We hope this doesn’t discourage people and you are free to re-apply for future events.

Q: What if I’m not available to help on both days?
A: We do take on volunteers who are only available to help out on one day of the event, be it Friday, Saturday or Sunday. So don’t let that stop you from applying!

Q: What is expected of a volunteer:
A:
  • Remain professional and polite at all times when you are on duty, and at all other times when you can be identified as a member of the Oz Comic-Con staff. Remember, you are acting as a representative of Oz Comic-Con, so please make us proud!
  • You are expected to attend all staff briefings and be on time to all of your scheduled shifts. This will ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible. Being late to a shift can cause problems for the volunteer coordinator as well as other volunteers.
  • You must stick to your assigned position during your assigned shift. If you need to leave for any reason you must notify the volunteer coordinator by phone so they can organise a suitable replacement for your area.
  • As you are representing Oz Comic-Con we would ask you to ensure you are neatly presented at all times.
  • Make sure you are identifiable as a member of Oz Comic-Con staff at all times while on a scheduled shift.
  • Have fun and enjoy yourself!
